I need to get a new set of radial trailer tires soon, and I would like to improve the life of the valve stems on my boat trailer wheels. It seems like the rubber stems rot out at the base and leak before the tires need replacing. I'm looking at stainless steel valve stems, but maybe there's a better way to improve valve stem life?
Erik, stainless steel valves are what my tire guy recommended when I had my trailer tires installed. He even applied a PFPE (similar to TefGel, but some other brand they use in house) to the screw-in valve stems. Worth the extra 5 bucks.
Hope this helps,
Charles Brennan
