WATER:
On some unspoken signal, everybody began readying their boats to go out, starting with Mr. PDR.

Perhaps it was finally seeing ripples on the water, instead of glassy calm.
First step was getting all the hulls off the sand, from the falling tide.

(Sniff!) :'(
NOBODY wanted to help a powerboat RIB, also stuck in the sand. :(
Oh, well. Once I was free, I was able to zip out there and take pics of the On-Water Boat Parade.

For a "Boat Parade" it sure looked like herding cats, to me. :P

At least, the majority were all on the same point of sail.

Except for maybe this guy, trying to pole out his club-footed self-tending jib with a paddle, for some wing-and-wing action.

And finally gave up fighting it and just enjoyed the down wind run.

As pretty as they are on the beach, they look much prettier, moving through the water.

Wayfarer, two Windrider 17's, and the Saturday Night Special.

OK, NOW it's starting to look like a parade!! :)
20251115_131932 1024X768.jpg
Like the shadows on the side of the hull, made by the slotted rub rail? ???
20251115_131947 1024X768.jpg
A closer view, taken while on the beach.

It suddenly occurred to me: Hey! ;D *I* was in the parade, too! 8)
20251115_132008 1024X768.jpg
And probably closer than this guy would have liked, >:( although he was too polite to say anything.
So I backed off. :-[

This Norseboat came out of nowhere; he was never on Atseno Otie Key, with all the other boats.
20251115_132305 1024X768.jpg
Either he did not get the memo, or else he was REALLY late!! ::)
Don't even know what you'd call this: A Square-rigged Junk Ketch?!? ??? A Bi-Polar Venetian Blind?!? ???
20251115_132441 1024X768.jpg
What on earth, do all those lines on the end of the sail, do? ???
And you think YOU have rigging challenges!! :o
View from astern.

Notice the name: Shallow Minded II.
20251115_132516 1024X768.jpg
As I went by, I asked him had he ever considered renting out the sail area, as billboard space? ???
He did not appear overly receptive to the idea. >:(
Always making New Friends, everywhere I go!! ;D
Returning to the ramp, I was feeling as mellow and relaxed, as this guy looks.

I needed a day out on the water, and I was glad it was this day.
It was really gorgeous.

Love it! Got me really wanting to do the CK thing.
Don't think I've ever seen a slotted rub rail on the outside. Maybe added after construction? Or was it designed that way?
Dale, COME ON DOWN! ;D
They apparently do this twice a year. The main Cedar Key Small Boat Meet, is typically the first weekend in May. The second lesser attended event, is in November.
They frequently get a jump on the weekend with many attendees arriving on Friday to launch and set up, then sailing all day Saturday near Atesena Otie Key and then sailing back in to Cedar Key and de-rigging, on Sunday. In years past, when I could not make it on Saturday and went on Sunday, there were many fewer boats on the water; so Saturday is the main day.
Don't know what your on-road endurance is, but theoretically, you could come down early Friday, launch and overnight, then sail around on Saturday. Leave late Saturday afternoon, make it back home by late Saturday night, and you'd still be able to attend to your Sunday morning flock.
Just be careful not to nod off, during your own sermon!! ;D

YOU ARE INVITED!! ;D
