Title: Roller furling main
Post by: Tri on Dec 21, 2025, 10:47 AM
Has anyone set a roller furling system of a main sail around mast  with an sliding attachment on boom.
I want to do this project and would like diagrams and thoughts I have a 10 ft Cat rig sailing dinghy I want to roll the sail around the mast. I have a sock sail over main. I am sure I am not the first to try this. Thanks

Hello Tri-

How is the boom attached to the mast?
How is the main sheeted?

Posting a picture of the boat in its rigged glory would help.

It may be such that converting the sail from sock over to lashings, track, hoops, beads (almost any other system) would make the sail more reefable.

I have roller boom reefing which impairs sheeting unless I move the mainsheet from a mid-boom bale to end of the boom  or use a roller reefing claw mid-boom.
