Was hoping to fix the cover on the boat this week. I was waiting for the last dump of snow to melt (about 8 inches). However, Old Man Winter has returned with a forecast of nearly 2 feet of snow and locally higher. Unfortunately, my house seems to be in a "snow belt", in other word we always seem to get more snow than the rest of Long Island. Great for taking the cross country skis out, not so good as snow piles up on the roof and boat cover. The last storm I spent a day clearing the walkway, drive, cars and roof and I just did not get to the boat. I regret it as the old snow has turned to ice at this point. Anyway, we will spend today reading the Sunday newspaper, exercising (finished already) and eating everything in sight!
Hold fast Brian! Just don't let your boat get crushed like Jim Steele's did ... :'(
I have plans to travel to OH on the 6th, and I'm really hoping there is no blizzard then!
I thought about that! But so far the cover which has a steep ridge (Mast) has shed a good deal of the snow. The cover did collapse somewhat onto the cockpit benches, as the snow is heavy and wet. So far about 18 inches of snow and 1-2 inches per hour more until around noon, then the system literally blows out with high winds to follow. Montauk, which is east of my location recorded 80 mph winds this morning! I'll keep the image of my boat sailing on a beautiful summer day in my mind as I start up the snow blower ::)
20" is plenty!
A nice pleasant 4" last week to brighten things up and maybe a couple more this week but I'm starting to think about when I can take the cover off and do a little work.
