Ahoy Potter Yachters,
Our club's new race weekend is attracting considerable interest. As of today we are at 14 boats, and the event is capped at 20 boats based on available dock space at the Oakland Yacht Club. So if you want to join this weekend, please email me soonest to secure your place.
See the May newsletter for details. The basics are that we will race on Saturday May 30, followed by an awards ceremony and dinner. A group will launch and sail over from Richmond/Marina Bay on Friday May 29, and return on Sunday. Others will launch at the Grand Street boat ramp in Alameda, and store trailers in a lot beside the OYC.
Members and friends who'd rather observe the race in comfort than sail in it are welcome. The course will be visible from the OYC clubhouse, which will be open all day. Following the race we'll have a and happy hour + dinner open to all Potter Yachters who preregister. So, email me if you want to race, or prefer to join as an observer and spend a fun day catching up with your fellow club members.
Don't delay! Boat space is limited, and the weather (I am told) will be perfect.
Fair Winds,
George
Hi George,
I think you know Francesca and I are coming. Do I need to contact OYC with registration and insurance info to secure a space on their docks?
Dave K
Good question Dave. You are on the list and have a slip, but I've yet to discuss how Ben (the GM at the OYC) wants to handle documents for this event.
As usual, they will need a Transient Moorage Application, plus copies of your boat's current registration and proof of insurance. The question is whether they want all this sent electronically in advance or would prefer to see things upon arrival. I will try to nail this down ASAP.
In the meantime, spread the word!
George
One quick update: I sent the wrong discount code for the Marina Village Inn. Use "Silver2026" and you'll get 30% off their standard room rates. Sorry for the confusion.
