And 45 minutes sooner than I had estimated, I crossed the starting line, an hour and 45 minutes after the race start!

Winds were now up to 5 mph with occasional gusts to 8 mph and my course was into the wind, meaning it was going to be a real character-building day.
Sometimes, I was hitting 2 knots! :)

Combination face cover, hoodie, sunshirt was a birthday gift from my daughter and much appreciated on a day like that.

My tiller pilot broke, forcing me to work MUCH harder than I had anticipated.
I decided to celebrate crossing the start by having lunch and employed my tiller extender as a "poor man's auto-pilot" so I could duck below and get my sub and some Gatorade.
