I do not have a functional battery in my boat at this time, will start out next season with a new one. But I want to check the cabin/running lights, what is a small power supply to do this while boat is in dry storage this winter. Thanks.
Eagle Creek Sailor,
Sounds like a jump start battery pack to me.
Something like this, or similar.

I have a battery jump pack that I use for my nav lights, when I take my RIB Short Ribs out at night.
It is also used for when my truck battery leaves me on a cold winter morning.
Hope this helps,

I had a jump pack and it croaked, might be time for another one, good idea thanks.
I have one of these I use for testing 12 volt systems. It's small, light weight, has lasted over 6 years, and fits easily in a plastic ammo box along with connecting wires.

We have one for each car and I use them for all kinds of things. Once I even used one to jump start a car. ;)
I also have an old 12 volt battery from a moped that's pretty compact and works well enough for testing.
We've got one of these. Won it in the holiday boat parade a few years ago. One of the questions they asked during the prize giveaway was how many boats were there, and our 8 year old daughter had counted them, making sure to include ours. And this was the prize!

Really though, any power pack that has a 12 volt output could be used for testing.
Thanks all, just looking for something small and inexpensive. Might be a one time use.
