Title: Superstitous steps
Post by: Timm R Oday25 on Feb 14, 2023, 12:02 PM
I'm convinced most of us are somewhat traditionalist when it comes to our boats . After far too long on her trailer I'm very much looking forward to a summer of sailing .I've been lead to believe that a coin under the mast will bring a great season .
So how does one go about choosing the proper coin ?

If you want to continue on the superstion track I suggest a bit coin.

Would that be a coin that you bite to see if it is gold? ;)

I had to look up the origin to see what type coin would work. It come from the Romans so you need to look around the house to see if you have a denarii. It probably doesn't matter which Caesar is on it, as long as it's not Caesar dressing.

It's point was to enable the crew to pay their way into the afterlife if the ship sank. I think that's asking for trouble. Skip the coin and get a good insurance policy.  ;)
