The "Not So Hot" front came through last night. The weather station on my deck reported a 42.6 MPH gust. Lots of lightning and a little over an inch of rain. I think it's been about two months since we have had any measurable rainfall at the house. And we rely on the rain for our drinking water. So this morning Connie and I got out and checked for damages around the house. I worried about the greenhouse vents because I didn't think to close them before the storm came through. Well, the vents made it with no problem. Some water got inside the greenhouse but nothing in there needs protection from the rain. We found a couple of items in the yard had been rearranged by the wind. No biggie.

This morning there is a report about a tornado about 9 miles west of us. I don't believe that has been verified by the NWS and it could have been just straight line winds.

This front is headed east and doesn't seem to be starving for moisture or instability so keep an eye out.

I decided to go fish under the lights early this morning before light. Not much going on and I didn't stay long. The shrimp are still there but the fish were lethargic. The season is changing and soon it will be cold, not perfect as it has been. During my fishing expedition, I realized the lawn looked terrible and we had a grandson and fiancĂ©e coming, so go back and get the mower and mow, which was easy because of lack of rain and growth (except seed stalks). SO...with the mowing done I decided to fish in the actual light for once. The wind was blowing 20 kts from the NE and once almost blew me off the pier. Nada on the hook too. It's sprinkling now  and there looks to be a second tail forming behind this one, so we'll probably get some MORE rain. We needed it but I can sense October heading out the door.

Well yes I can confirm the wind.  After initially missing exit 69 which would put me on 63 from I-10 (seems like I miss it about every third time because of that first exit just over the bridge I just get confused)I finally got it straightened out and about got blown off the road several times going north today.  Visiting my Mother who is pushing 102 and who has no concern about the weather. Anyway, home now and having a little rain, hope for a lot more. Coming back from Mexico Beach, which had outstanding weather but impacted by the red tide.

The sky and water had that steely look and I put on a jacket because of the damp air. There's more coming. I really like that auto lane feature on the Honda when the wind is blowing. Takes a lot of the work out of crabbing into the wind. Today was the first time I ever almost got blown off a pier!
