Mountain Sailing
I've had a fine trip to Western Montana. The truck, Camper, and trailer performed admirably on the 2200 mile trek from Ohio, to Wisconsin, and on to Western Montana. The only issue was that my flat connecter was dragging for a while, and perished. I didn't have a spare and had to hard wire the wiring to finish the trip.

Sailing has been fine. There are 90 Thustles here and competition has been fierce. On Monday we experienced the famous Flathead Lake thermally induced Southerly. We raced in sustained 25 mph, gusts over 30, with 3 to 5 foot rollers. It was exciting. On Tuesday we had similar conditions, but maybe 5 mph less velocity. The last 2 days we sailed in the morning Northerly thermals that give you 10 to 12 mph, with flat water since we are sailing at the North end. Thise winds die at noon or so, so we actually launch at 6:30 am in order to get out to the course for 8:00 start. Getting up at 5:00 sucks but wrapping up by 1:00 leaves the whole afternoon for other pursuits. Tomorrow is the last day. Then my crew flies out, Tami comes in, and webare taking a week to camp our way home. Flathead is the most beautiful lake I know of, which is why I was so anxious to return after a 35 year hiatus.

Envious!

My brother and I were just talking about his trip to  Montana. He said his hike to hidden lake was one of the greatest moments of his life. I've been to Yellowstone and the Tetons. No sailing though I did golf. Plain beautiful out there.

Hidden Lake was awesome. We had 3 Big Horn Sheep run right across the trail, 30 feet away. Wish I could post the pictures!

Here's my brother's picture from his trip. He said that guy was no more than 15' away.

When Vivian and I were in Glacier National Park, we knew that we were supposed to stay away from the wildlife.  However, apparently nobody had told the wildlife!  As we walked down the path, we were met by a pair of these, mother and child.  Knowing that we were also supposed to stay on the path, we had a quick choice to make.  We chose to slip uphill just a bit off the path to let the natives graze on past us.  They weren't more than 6' away.
