I've been tracking hurricane I for friends on the west coast of FL. I think they will all be fine and Charles will have a story and maybe Heloise too.
I follow on NOAA under Hurricanes and Marine. The graphics are good but I find the best info under Hurricanes reading Discussion. It does some good scientific 'splainin'

Now the Marine forecast has been coming in a little better than the land forecast, converting kts/mph back and forth. Yesterday forecast called for 22 foot seas and today down to 17'. The track will be going right over a weather bouy and that will be interesting.

Cedar Key is not the place to be.

I believe all of the east Gulf trailer sailors will be okay as long as a tree doesn't ruin Charles night and day. Plus being without power in this weather is brutal.

NOAA Hurricane is the only source I use and will check out the Marine version.  I do not need any sensationalism justified with "could be", "might be" or any other phrase that justifies a position for the ratings war.  Just the facts please, updated often with the new facts.

The Marine forecast is the one that mentioned the 21-mile shift to the west.
There are a few technical terms in the Discussion that I don't understand but I do get their meaning

This is one of the few times that I am happy with a cold front preceding me to the beach, MD/DE.  It is escorting/forcing the hurricane out to sea.

The beach should be cool to chilly, but with bright sun warming us up if out of direct wind.  Surf should be moderate, too, with offshore direction of wind.  Too old to go in the water any more, before Covid, just barely, calm days.  Now, don't even think about it..........:)

Many fiends to spend time with in doors, and dining room just 50 yards away, so I am not going to suffer much.

I do have a lot of sympathy for those in the path of the storm, whatever state they are in.  No fun being a target for that big a bully.

Newbie status......Old enough to enjoy being an implied youngster, even if not true!

I intensely study the forecast, discussion, and everything I can find on the NHC before the storm to try and get a handle on what  the NHC is thinking. (No, not any of the "weather" sites). One of those tools is GOES East and all the different wavelengths they can image. It was pretty obvious looking at the  upper level water vapor images how they came up with that track.

Was thinking I might attend the small boat meet on Cedar Key next Spring, but now will have to check whether the area can actually host the event as that time draws near.  My sailing tri-canoe should be ready by then.
