The Japanese magnolia is erupting in blooms and that is a sign of the warmer days ahead. I suppose it is a figment of the South, speaking of long years of care. Because you just don't go get a huge Japanese Magnolia, you have to grow it and they grow slowly. This one is fifty some years old. It is always the first to say, "The warm weather is on the way." True, it gets confused sometimes and had snow kill the first few blooms. And it always keeps SOME of the blooms in reserve, just in case. However, I think this time is real and already it is very nice in the 'Sip. Well, along the coast anyway. When the robins leave I'll know for sure. Two really dependable signs.

That doesn't mean the cold is over, but those overnight dips are necessary for all the buds to burst forth! Days are longer too. What's not to like  :D

This vortex might be the u-turn we've been waiting for. 17 tonight. Monday 60 degrees with overnight low of 40. Might do an overnighter on the dinghy.

Sounds like a plan Captain.

I'm heading up to the Smoky Mountains Monday for some camping and fly fishing with a BIL and a friend for 3 nights. If that wasn't the case, I think I would do a bit of lake camping with the Scamp.
