Sold a boat and bought a new one yesterday.

Mad Baby (1) is on its way to San Diego.

Mad Baby (2) is now in my yard.

Sadly I'm leaving the Precision family. I considered both a Precision 21 and a Precision 23 but ended up with an S2 6.9

A little bit sportier and that's probably what won me over in the end though the Precisions definitely have their advantages that I will miss.

In spite of the title of my post it is bitter sweet. The Precision 18 was the right boat for me at the time and has served me well for the last 5 years. I will miss her. But more than anything I'm relieved that the logistics all worked out.

Lots of work to do on the new boat before she launches next Spring but that is half the fun. :)

Congrats Tom! Those S2's are cool boats.

And don't worry, you're still welcome at Happy Hour!

Congrats on the move. I am now on my 14th sail boat, a P21, I love bringing them back to life, my lake has a 26ft limit and I have been up Catalina 25's and down to Precision 165. Like you, they have all served me well at the time but something new always gets my attention. At pushing 80 this may be my last one. Good luck and post your progress.

Thanks Rich, technically the largest boat you can moor on our lake is 22 ft but there are some clear violators :)

Even after removing a retaining wall and modifying our driveway gate, getting the boat in the yard was a tight fit. So 22 ft is probably it for me unless I magically become wealthy enough to keep my boat at a marina year round.

Congratulations, Tom! Those boats look pretty nifty! Please keep us up to date on your refit journey, and +1 with Tim on sticking with us on the Happy Hours. You know how much we love show and tell!

Good choice Tom! Moving up should give you and your crew more elbow (and leg and head) room.
