A member at the club with a boat next to me has an O Day 192 with the cabin, and did I know a good sailmaker. I said Water's Sails about 20 miles from the club. He said he knows him but that his health was keeping him from doing business. I then suggested Precision Sails, and Hyde sails, and North Sails. He said he contacted them, and they said wait in line. Large jobs take priority over small jobs, and they are very busy. He liked that they were honest with him.

So, I came to this esteemed fountain of nautical knowledge to seek advice.

Sail loft wait times are increasing.  Fewer lofts and even fewer places actually sewing sails.

IMO at this time of year I'd expect my sails to be ready mid-winter '24.

One of the best local lofts in Seattle area, actually makes the sails locally, the wait is 6+ months to be measured and another 1/2-year for delivery. (So yeah a year wait but I'd have the time and $$$$$ well worth it).

Does Dr. Judy (who once hosted this BB) still make sails?

I ask the question on the WW Potter forum addressed To Judy where she still posts from time to time. I Just checked and Dave Scobie said she no longer makes sails.

For what it's worth, it seems I recall recently that Michael Storer wait time on sails was something in the neighborhood of maybe 3-4 months. Can't remember where I saw that. His prices are good. I would have ordered from him had I not made my own sail. He posts on several sites including his own. His RSS site has a contact form. I'm pretty sure he'd answer quickly and honestly. I think I speak correctly when I say that guys like Clint Chase and John Welsford would endorse him. Maybe Dave Scobie can chime in here.
