24 of them. Each one 3 times !

Finally got around to installing the jib tracks I picked up late last Summer. Wasn't looking forward to it and it was little bit of work but not too bad. Waiting on a shipment from McMaster-Carr and a new pair of extreme angle cleats to finish it all up.

Thanks to Fireman Dave for getting the measurements from his boat so I could place them in the right spot.

And thanks to Dan (I believe) for his tips last year on using a Dremel to create some space for the epoxy to flow into between the fiberglass skins.

Those long tracks and their position is intended for newer P-18s with chain plates located on the cabin top. So on my boat the forward part of the tracks won't be useful. I debated putting in shorter tracks like what you typically see on boats like mine. It would have been fewer holes. But I've been considering moving the shrouds like one other forum member has and I didn't want to have to redo the tracks if I did that.

I'm in no hurry to move the shrouds so it won't be this year.

Looking great Tom!

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "extreme angle cleats"?

These:

They make it easier to cleat and un-cleat a line when the line is coming out at an angle. Like when you're sitting on the high side of the boat and the cleat is on the low side facing aft.

Looks like you did a great install. Question: Are there "endcaps" for the tracks after the jib car is slid on? My P165 has the jib track with endcaps (not sure if there is another name for them) to prevent the car from sliding off.

Yes. I'm not sure what they're called either. It doesn't look like they require screw holes drilled all the way through. They'll go on after all the fasteners are in place and the cars are put on.

Ah, OK, thanks. I guess I've seen these before, just never knew they were referred to by that name. Learn something new every day! Should work perfectly for your new setup.

That's right. I've removed mine and they're just held in with sheetmetal (I think) screws gripping about 1/4" in to the fiberglass by their threads.

Ahh looks useful. I updated my P165 to this style of them for the same reason:
