Had a good sail this weekend as a crew to my friend Bob on his Schock 23. Sailed to Santa Cruz Island for an overnight. Was going to take my P165 but Bob needed crew so I went with him. Good thing too because winds hit some 25 knots. His Schock handled them well. Saw a whale, probably a Humpback on the return Sunday. Had a 5 second whale video but the file size was too big.

Great Pictures! Is that an open transom?

Shesaidno

The transom is low but not open.

Nice, Ron! The open design is interesting, isn't it? As I recall, ol' Jack went from a P165 to a Hunter with an open transom.

They're great for swimming.

Ron, did you get a chance to try out your new handheld antenna on that sail?

Tim, yes, I was transmitting to the boat behind us and he said I was coming in broken, so I switched to the longer antenna and he said it was much better. Not a very scientific test, but for $20 and a simple antenna switch, it seems worth it. Will have to continue to check it further. I do like what Frank did in adding his new 25 watt radio and mast antenna.

Interesting. Well, now you know there is at least some improvement. Yes, Frank's install is looking great.
