After 40 plus years of reliable service the factory Schaefer traveller on our boat has finally worn out it's bearings.
Replacement bearings are not available .
Schaefer gave me fairly good quote . Problem is the mainsheet car that I've had is now longer offered .
I've reached out to Ronstan and asked for a quote .
Buying the pieces individually gets very expensive very quick . The Schaefer quote for the whole unit
is roughly 50% less than buying the pieces seperately .
We don't have a local sailboat dealer we trust here.
Thanks

Timm, Your query: " . . . the factory Schaefer traveller on our boat has finally worn out it's bearings." has the usual TOTAL LACK OF CONTEXT!  :P

Inch and a quarter or inch and a half rails?  ???
Mid cockpit traveler or aft cockpit traveler?  ???
How long is the traveler?  ???
Are there any  . . . .  oh, I dunno . . . . PICS of your setup, you could offer?  >:(

I'm sure it's all as clear as a bell inside your brain, but the rest of us are not privy to that and have no clue!
With some pics and measurements, THEN we might have a snowball's chance of answering your post!!  >:(

We could provide web site links, like this:
https://www.rigrite.com/Travellers/Schaefer_Travellers/schaefer_114OS.php#Traveller%20Cars%20and%20Car%20Parts

A guy armed with pics and measurements, might even make his way to the Sailor's Exchange in St. Augustine, or Sailorman in Fort Lauderdale, and maybe find an entire replacement traveler, the next time he was wandering around for SCAMP parts!
Who knows?  ???

Throw us a bone, Man!  ;D

So give him a good description and a photo and every millimeter you can Tim. If it is one thing that I can say about CB, the more information you feed him the better. Things wear out and have to be replaced. I hear they're looking for my replacement but don't want to pay two people  when my dumb butt will do it for one. Good luck on it! Yes, I'm glad I have a tiny boat and cheap fittings  :D

Fair enough Charles . My intent of the post was to ask about brands .
I'm at the point in life where I'd rather buy new .
Harken is about 30 minutes east of here .
The quote from Schaefer has the control lines mounted differently than I'd like .
I don't mean to be confusing .
I machined shafts for replacement bearings . However the track would need to be machined as well .
I hope this clarifies ..

I've got no dog in this hunt except to say that the blocks on my boat are Schaefer and have lasted a very long time. Good blocks. The traveler on the Victoria was pretty intricate and worked pretty good, what little I got to sail it. Can't remember  what was on that....may have been Harken. It's probably somewhere in the depths of my shop, although I haven't seen it in about 5 years if it is.

Timm, Your statement: "My intent of the post was to ask about brands."
Was a LOT more helpful than your first post!!  ;D

Lewmar, Ronstan, Garhauer, and Rig-Rite are among brands you didn't mention.
Perhaps one of them has what you want for what you want to pay.

Hope this helps,

A few years back when I was considering converting my mainsheet from end boom to mid boom with traveler system, Garhauer had the best package price on all I needed. Didn't or at least haven't done it so don't know about today.

If just replacing individual components, most recently Ronstan seemed to be the most cost effective in my experience.
