In an effort to keep the dampness to a minimum
And reluctance to put any more holes of any type in the boat , I cane up with I consider a valid alternative. The solar panel will sit over the sliding hatch . The bottom hatch board utilizes a single 12 volt muffin fan .
The fan disconnects easily when removing the hatch boards .
Any suggestions of something I may be overlooking ? This is a standalone unit , not in any way wired to the boats electrical system . Thank youYou cannot view this attachment.

I had a 'store-bought' solution on my boat, 6" fan + 15w panel, also not hooked to the battery.

I only used it in the driveway in the front hatch, built into a doghouse of sorts that was not ready for sailing.

A companionway hatch board solution would be neat.

I have used a one fan, two hole (active intake and passive exhaust) + solar panel + battery + charge controller setup to dry out the inside of a closed hull Sunfish.

I have been meaning to mount a couple fans in the cabin but have not gotten to it yet. It did not help that I ordered the wrong voltage fan the last time this was active on the project list... My current solar budget would allow some fan use in the cabin in the evening.
Big dreams, small boats...

I an unlimited amount of 12 volt muffin fans.My thinking is ,should one burnout a replacement is free takes 5 minutes and doesn't drain the house batteries
