You can't just go ANYWHERE. This is the epitome of woe. In the MUD! Let's just hope there aren't any sharks or sting rays. Yes, you see all manner of things from this front porch. Let's just say these people had their tail tucked by the time they got out of the mess.
They were about ¾ mile away. The island in the background is about 7 miles away from them. It has been said that you could WALK to it if you knew where all the holes were. Even a jet ski will bottom out in three inches of water. I'm sure the water felt good though. It was VERY hot.
In their defense, this is the fate of everyone that goes here. Sooner or later you're gonna hit bottom. And often it is IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THIS WATER. If you go the wrong way, it makes it worse. This is called Character Building 101.

More Details....Where...as one who has spent much time in the mud in my Coast life I just have to know.  The Island in the background is it Horn? Petis Bois? Too close for Deer? Riley photographic agility can create illusions. Too far from Jackson county for it to be Cat, my particular favorite for getting stuck in the mud but not seven miles away. So reveal..... ;)

It's Horn and they're close to Graveline Bayou. Uncharted waters more or less and full of pitfalls for the unwary. Now they know what that silver water means. That is the very end of the Pascagoula River and yes, I wade fished a bit and the water felt fine. But there is definitely the possibility of critters. Scariest in my mind is the size of some of those rays I've seen before. Very bad news in low visibility water when you're wading around.

Speaking of illusions....the beaches on Horn Island are white sugar sand. Not visible...just below the horizon and the curve of the earth.
