I have used them for small boat supplies for a number of years and often browsed the boat building plans. Thankful Gig Habor boat works will still be selling the boat plans and sails. I will miss them as they always treated me well and seemed nice to be nice folks.

Decidedly Mixed Feelings about Duckworks closing.
It started when I had nearly, but not quite enough spare cash to order a Neil Pryde sail for the SCAMP and didn't want to spend money I didn't really have and I wasn't far enough along in the SCAMP build, anyway.  Our Government does more than enough of that kind of spending to suit me, without me becoming just like them!  >:(
So, NATURALLY!!  >:( The next time I checked the price had gone up 70 bucks, and then after all my financial ducks were finally in a row ("Ducks". See what I did, there?!?)  ;)  It had gone up, AGAIN!!  >:(
Ended up spending 260 bucks more than I thought I was going to.  >:(  And of course, the sail was ordered about 2 weeks before their closing announcement, so initially, I was glad I had gotten in under the wire.
Not so much so, when they announced their 50% off discounts.  WOW!! I coulda got a DEAL!   8)
Or, they might have been out of the sails by then.  :P
I have gotten enough other deals on things, that it didn't matter all that much, so I let it slide.

Then a few days later, it dawned on me: Duckworks is going out of business:o
I needed Armstrong hatches, carbon fiber oar ferrules, oar locks, extra pintles for a mast crutch, break-away cleat for the rudder . . . . stuff I was going to order as I needed it, having been a lifelong JIT (Just In Time) manufacturing devotee.
So quick like a bunny, I ordered all that stuff and their 50% discount, put me right back to my original budgeting!  ;D
So, happy for my Good Fortune,  :) less happy for their Misfortune.  :(

By the way what is the 50% off code? I can't seem to find it.

I've used them for almost 20 years. I've placed two orders with the discount. Don't be in a hurry with these final orders. They are backed up!

I did finally get my 2 orders. Got the 2nd yesterday. One of two items was listed "out of stock" and refund issued. I'm not sure the 2nd item was correct. I received two 4" Seadog die cast open base cleats. I feel like I ordered brass cleats (I could be wrong or made my own mistake). Went to check my order and their website is gone. So no more Duckworks at all. It does appear that Gig Harbor has taken over. Not sure how much of their business they'll continue - might be just plans.

Aaaaaannnnnnnnnd, they're closed to new orders as of 25 July.

One of my orders should come in today. It was the second order I made. Since I hadn't seen the first order I made being sent, I inquired about it yesterday. I then had an email saying it was being sent out yesterday.

I thought they were closing the current, very high overhead, location and it would be reopening under new management at a different location??

Doug SC

I believe Gig Harbor Boat Works will carry their boat plans and sails only.

Charles Brennan

You guys!!  :P

Nope.
Chuck Leinweber is coming out of retirement and forming a new company, (although using the Duckworks domain name) to deal with all the boat plans that were formerly sold by Duckworks.

Nope.
Santa Barbara Boat Works acquired Duckworks and Gig Harbor Boat Works some years ago.
Gig Harbor Boat Works is largely unaffected by the Duckworks closure, not counting the founder of GHBW having his daughter, Katie Malik, being fired from Duckworks.

Here is a little more authoritative account of the situation:
