Take a big piece of wood, cut it into a bunch of small pieces of wood, then glue them together to make a big piece of wood!

I like all the collaboration.

Now that's funny! LOL

Which is in fact what I did. Just a different shape. Ha!

Some more work on the board. I took Spot's scaled drawing and decided to cut grooves at intervals at depth to create guidelines for planing/sanding/shaping the board into something like unto a foil. I spray painted the grooves to aid in the process. We'll see how it turns out.

You might consider epoxying it, then painting it.  Could protect places that get scraped.

Yep. That's an option. I also have enough fiberglass left over from the build that I might glass it. With the board being so thin,  that would help make it stronger.

If possible, if you are glassing the board, think about getting a strip of fabric at +45/-45 wrapping the leading and trailing edges. This will help prevent cracking along a long fiber on the edge.

Big dreams, small boats...

Another evening of work on the board. This session was planing and sanding. Got it close to done for that part of the project. It's looking decent, a better shape than my first board. Not perfect though by any means. I'm sure it will serve its purpose.

My setup. Using my table saw as a portable workbench.

A few more final touches and I'll decide how to finish it. Likely cover with glass.

I'm still working on the board. Another day or so.

I cut the old board in half to see the inside. Rotting, separating, and swollen. Wouldn't fit inside the trunk anymore.

I feel good about having solid wood. I did cover it in fiberglass.

I've finished the new daggerboard. Planed, sanded, covered in fiberglass, and two coats of Glidden Porch and Floor Polyurethane oil based. A few pics:
