Ahoy lake sailors: The time has come to book a campsite at Huntington Lake. The trip is scheduled for Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3-7), with some folks planning to get there 1-2 days early. Docks and cabins can be booked later, but for now we need a preliminary headcount of those who wish to camp. Both campgrounds we're considering are walking distance to the docks/boat launch, and small boats (P-15s, Scamps and such) can anchor in protected coves near the campsites. The group sites have space for 6 vehicles and 18 people. There are room for pickup/van campers too.

If you'd like to join this trip, let me know here on the forum or by email. So far we're at 5 boats and 5-6 campers. Don't delay. We'll need to choose campsites (group vs. standard) within a week or so to make sure that we get one.

Thanks!
George

Huntington Update: We've reserved a group campsite at Rancheria. So far ten people have said they'll go to camp and four more are strong maybes. Three others will stay in their boats or cabins. The site is booked for 4 nights, but we could easily add one more night on the front end if folks want to arrive on Sept 2nd.

Stay tuned for info on dock reservations at China Peak Landing. The resort permits overnighting on boats, and last year had dock space available over the Labor Day weekend. Smaller boats can anchor in a sheltered cove below the campground.

Thank you for taking care of this, George. I know it's the proverbial cat herding this early in the season. Also, there are a lot of views on this forum but rarely replies, hopefully people are sending you email about this.

Maybe we should go full speed ahead with an RSVP system using the club Google calendar? We would still want and people could still use email or text to RSVP, but maybe it would just make it easy for some people so you're not guessing.

Let me know.

P.S.  Sorry I won't make it this year assuming that I'll be boating in the Puget Sound if all goes according to plan (like it ever does).
