SO....

As you get older you realize that the people that really understand you are getting to be fewer and further between. That, and the fact that the hourglass is almost empty start working on your head. You start thinking thoughts that you never even considered before. Ideas that once were very faint on the radar take on a different hue.

No, this isn't one of THOSE bits where I'm ******* about getting old! It's the exact opposite LOL!
It seems that as bad as those errant thoughts have become, at least I'm not this guy. Whew! SO...even if you're worrying that you might be nuts, take heart. You might be the yardstick to give meaning to someone else ;D

Getting older brings experience but also the reality that, yeah, I'm becoming the old guy (or gal). Last year I was diagnosed with a condition that while not fatal, can impair my movement, coordination, strength and balance. Doctor said I may have had this condition for 5 years or more, without realizing it since it felt "normal for my age. Not a great prospectus. However, I refuse to give in! I'm exercising nearly two hours a day, swimming, long hikes and walks and other physical activities. I also started a new medication about three months ago and symptoms are minimal now, and Doc said to keep doing what I'm doing and I can lead a long, healthy life with very little impact from the condition. Will I be able to keep skiing at 80 ? Hopefully, as the ski club I belong to has several members approaching that milestone! Point is, The poor guy who was shot obviously had some mental issues which were not dealt with. We must address our physical health as well as mental. The blessing of family, friends, being active, health, all are important parts contributing to our mental state. Sorry to wax on about life's adventure, but remain upbeat! Sailing is a great escape, physically and mentally engaging and reliving at the same time. Sail on!

Riley, in 2016 I came very close to moving to Woolmarket, however, we decided against it.  Just look at the kinds of adventures I've missed.

Brian, on my next birthday I'll be 80.  I've been advised that I need a hip replacement.  I'm pondering that decision now, both the if and the when if so. One consideration is skiing.  If I do it now, chances are I'll be fully recovered and able.  If I delay the recovery time may be too short.  If I delay for a year, will the hip be bad enough that I'm unable. I skied this past season (March) with certainly some minor range of motion limitations and a little pain.  But ever the optimist I've already purchased my lift ticket for the trip.

Frank, I would guess Woolmarket is a lot like Escatawpa. Rural, on the river, different kinds of people, from the lowest of the low to the salt of the earth.Seems psychosis can strike anywhere! I'm still in decent shape (relatively) and stay active to hopefully stay that way. The worst malady I have is Egyptian fever, where the iron in your blood turns to lead and settles in your butt 😂
