In  my previous CK 2K23 trip report, I more or less chose pics of boats that fit with my recollection of the day and the narrative.  I took BUNCHES of pics and there is a 50 pic limit on posts, so the original post had exactly 50 pics which coupled with my voluble narrative, exposed ANOTHER post limitation: 20,000 characters.
I had 21,719.
OK, let's do some tighter editing.  Ugh!! Thought I was done with all that short, concise, prose when I quit writing technical manuals!
Tightened it down to 20,919 characters; still no good, so I split the post into two parts.

Here are the REST of the boats! ;D

Cat Ketch Sharpie.  No motor, no cabin, no electronics.   :o

As I observed the boat and its dearth of the amenities that I take for granted aboard Urchin, it occurred to me that these guys have far more character than me.
I might BE a Character, :P  but these guys HAVE Character! ;D

Never found out exactly which designer did this boat.

An older Sea Pearl.

According to the owner, this was practically a prototype, or at least, a very early hull number while Marine Concepts was still deciding how to lay out various things.

Very different than newer Sea Pearls.

Originally thought this guy was a masochist, or someone who got a little too used to the smell of varnish. . . . . .

A closer look (really close) showed glass, epoxy, and THEN varnish.

Clearly, he didn't launch where I did.

My first impression was that this was SCAMP's baby brother.

Nice, simple boat.

I noticed though, that these "simple" boats sure have a LOT of strings on them, going hither and yon!

A Sea Pearl Tri.

I didn't know they still use lee boards, when they convert to a tri.

Another shot of the solar-powered Bay Hen.

Guy decided to "rough it" with his sailing kayak and leave the sail at home.

Asked him, since there was so much space ahead of the mast mount, did he also use a jib?
Cutter rig, maybe?
Make new friends, everywhere I go!! ;D

This side shows the lee board.
Interesting pattern/material around the cockpit.
Couldn't tell if it was Carbon Fiber, or Armadillo shell.   ???

Apparently, this is where they relegated all the powered skiffs.
Hey! CK SBM has its' standards!!  ;)

Can't understand why someone would go to this much trouble building a hull, then leave off the mast, sails and rudder.   ???

Another interesting powered skiff.

So, Mister! Did you make the console out of all the left-over pieces?
Or is that the name of the boat, in Urdu script?!?   :o

Another mystery, was this obviously purpose-built block of wood.
Side trolling motor mount?
Hand hold for nervous passengers?

Looks like a tri  . . . .

But is actually a proa, as I was told, when I asked if it was a 2/3rds tri, or did he just have a rough crossing?

And of his own design.
Can actually mount the ama on either side.

No pesky bolts and hardware to corrode or jam or bend.  Just lash it and go!

A Melon Seed (at right) came ashore, right when I was taking pics of the proa.

Notice Urchin's sand anchor about to succumb to the incoming tide.
Again.   >:(

Here's where the Windriders and Hobie tris, liked to hang out.

They don't bother with heaving to, or slacking sail, or even getting out and dragging the boat up on the beach.
Their "parking brake" IS the beach!   ::)

D-u-u-u-de!! Gnarly boat! Especially the mast!
Chop that tree down, yourself?!? ;D

Never found out what kind of boat this was.

Does the heart good, to see another sailboat with shrouds, stays, spreaders, and whatnot.

Despite all the violence done to my boat (and me!) last weekend, I sure enjoyed myself more than I have, in quite a while.

Yay! There's some impressive boats along that beach. Just think, you're looking at YEARS of labor in many of them. Nice catboat :)

Thanks for the additional pics CB.
I like the one with the gnarly mast, could it be a design from Bolger?
The other one with the wide transom, I bet it scoots underway.
Where is the original trip report?
Big dreams, small boats...
