I'm all too familiar with docks being underwater! I assure you, you could build a monstrosity of a pier after a big storm if you had time to collect all the stuff that gets washed away. Good that everything went well with that storm and the boat was okay. Hurricanes and boats are things that don't mix well and it causes all kinds of problems. I know of two big boats that are still up in the marsh from last year's storm.

Canoes in this area are more geared to outback excursions, which would exclude the possibility of sail, although they might do well in the saltwater lakes along the lower river. A Grumman aluminum will last a lifetime. And if you've never seen the universe at night from a sandbar in the bush, you've missed out.
