Like many folks, the smoke is creating havoc with our plans. We renred a car in Columbus and  reached the marina in Bayfield on Tuesday afternoon and immediately set about attacking some of the last minute projects with hopes of sailing away Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. On Wednesday the smoke rolled in, and we really hadn't completed all of the tasks, so waiting another day was fine. On Thursday the smoke was much worse, and it wasn't safe to even stay on the boat. So now we are holed up at my friend's house, waiting to see what happens.
None the less, all of the projects are completed and Stolen Moments is eager to go sailing. After stowing and organizing all of the stuff that had filled the rental car, and Tami attacked our water tanks, cleaning both, refilling, shocking the tanks with Clorox, and then draining and filling each several times. Doing this involved moving most of our stuff from one end of the boat to the other, several times so that she could gain access to the tanks. My big project was rebuilding the head (toilet), which is indeed as gross as it sounds. Before that, I finished up installing new sound barrier in the engine compartment.  With all of this done, we are ready to stow everything more permanently, which will only take about an hour or so. We also need to go back to the grocery store to restock our food supplies.  We had returned the rental car on Tuesday, so we are at the mercy of friends for rides.
These pictures don't do the smog justice. It's thick enough that visibility is compromised and breathing is difficult. I know that many of you are faced with the same. Be safe!
