as is how a passing is often described in the South. My close friend Dan Davis, the person with the most variety of interests and skills I have ever known, passed away recently from injuries sustained in a hang gliding accident.  Dan was a husband, father, lawyer, municipal judge, professional muscian (piano, saxophone, bassoon), runner, scuba diver, Harley rider, bike rider, triathlete, snow skier, pilot, hang glider, hot air balloonist, ball room dancer, bee keeper, unicycle rider (while playing his saxophone for the kids), sailor, combine operator, and crafter of unique pieces of furniture using old piano carcasses.

Dan came to Tupelo from Iowa at the request of the Children's Mansion as they needed help with adoption law which is what he devoted his practice to.

He was tagged as the Renaissance man when we were walking on the Natchez Trace trail one day and I listed his skills which qualified him for the title, so he picked up three bodock balls from the ground and started juggling them with great skill. Just one more thing to add to the list.

The accident that took Dan occurred near Chattanooga.  Many thanks to our Capt. Kidd who made himself available and was on call during the period of time Dan was in a Coma. Dan's wife Jan was comforted to know there was someone local to go to if it became necessary.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Sounds like he had a very very full life.

Sorry for your loss. He had a life well lived and experienced things most of us only dream of.

Sad to hear that such an obviously vibrant person has passed. He certainly got enjoyment from living his life fully, but tragically not long enough.
