As some of you know I had a severe leg injury skiing in Switzerland on January 27. Swiss Dr. called it a 6 out of 5. Required two surgeries to repair, and initial prospects for recovery were not too encouraging; a year plus and 80 % of function. Well that prognosis has significantly improved. I'll spare the details, but I could possibly be sailing by August. Yea, I will miss a lot of the season, but at least I'll get out some, hopefully with crew, but that is for another post (thanks Glen!). I attribute the improved prognosis to an active lifestyle, healthy diet, and not too many vices (love those peanut butter cups!). Of course, lots of credit to a very skilled surgeon (second surgery was 9 hours). So when things look a little bleak, "Rock on" and keep pushing!

My regards to all the Old Salts and new ones too!

Very glad to hear the improved prognosis.

With my knee replacement, I tripled the frequency of the exercises, and achieved the desired 1 year progress in 4 months.
That allowed me to drive to Florida, and go sailing with a friend during Christmas week.

Both my doctors and therapist were pleased.

Norman - I agree! Keep pushing until it hurts, and then a little more exercise. While in the hospital the Doctors, Nurses and Physical Therapists all agreed that for 67 years old I was in great shape, but I've been exercising and active since my teenage years. I know my downhill skiing days are done, but I am determined not to give up the Nordic track, cross country skiing or swimming, along with light weights. Same with hiking, archery, fly fishing and sailing. I was never a couch potato, drinker or smoker all which detract from being physically fit.
