My good friend Mark, who I sail Thistles and Lasers with, and or against, is joining our ranks. He's in the process of purchasing a Presto 30.

Looks like a really interesting boat. I guess that it's technically a Sharpie? It has 2 masts, same height, unstayed, with wishbone rigs. It weighs about 4000 lbs and has a weighted centerboard with 1000 lbs of ballast deep in the hull.

It will be more like my situation, needing half a day to set up, so trailerable, but best for longer duration cruises. The first owner was evidently the designer. It sounds like he did several, or maybe many, Bahamas cruises. He also designed the VX One (which my son races)so he's good at innovative designs.

I'll ask Mark to join out conversations.

Sailed one, probably the one your friend bought, at the St Pete Boat Show a few years ago (10 or 15).  They even quoted me in the brochure, "Sea Pearl on steroids".  Very quick to pick up her skirt and haul.  Tacked well, the cabin was nice, carbon fiber masts seemed to indicated quick rig time, and the opening transom door was cool.  The only thing I didn't care for was the motor well in the cockpit.  I always felt they would choke the motor, but we sailed off the dock and back to it, so I didn't get to form an opinion.  Have fun.

I'm quite sure I saw this boat at the Annapolis Sailboat show maybe 15 years ago .
It was very differant from everything else I had seen there .
I remember something being said about the boat having been used by some orginization or foundation.
I'm looking forward to learning more about it

Reminds me of the great Nonsuch boats. Blending a cruising hull with the catboat arrangement and wishbone boom.

There was also a very nice fiberglass sharpie in the 90's. It was tailorable, somewhere around 20-24' and a bit expensive. I think its commercial name was Sharpie something.

Interesting design! And pretty! Sharpie hull should be fast. (But tender!) They'll need that 1000# centerboard  :D  Overall a very nice boat. I'm beginning to get to the age that I don't want a boat to tend to. Maybe I should seek a partner or something. Just take me sailing!
