And 45 minutes sooner than I had estimated, I crossed the starting line, an hour and 45 minutes after the race start!

Sadly, an hour and 45 minutes over, is not even one of  my worst starts!!

Winds were now up to 5 mph with occasional gusts to 8 mph and my course was into the wind, meaning it was going to be a real character-building day.
Sometimes, I was hitting 2 knots!

Hat, bought for me by my son.  "Team". A little ironic for a singlehander. 
Combination face cover, hoodie, sunshirt was a birthday gift from my daughter and much appreciated on a day like that.

My tiller pilot broke, forcing me to work MUCH harder than I had anticipated.
I decided to celebrate crossing the start by having lunch and employed my tiller extender as a "poor man's auto-pilot" so I could duck below and get my sub and some Gatorade.
